We’re looking for a capable, level-headed Sous Chef to help lead the kitchen at Chattaway Inns, in Ulverston – The Farmers + The Rose and Crown. This is a fast-paced venue serving fresh, seasonal food to a high standard.
As Sous Chef, you’ll be supporting the Head Chef in managing the day-to-day running of the kitchen, setting the pace in service, helping train and guide the team, and keeping standards sharp across the board. We’re after someone who’s calm under pressure, confident with ordering and prep planning, and happy to lead by example on a busy pass.

Chef de Partie
Job Type: Full-Time

Shift Pattern: 4 days on / 3 days off
Year-round work – Closed Christmas Day
We’re looking for skilled, motivated Chef de Parties to join Chattaway Group Ltd, a small group of quality-focused pubs in Cumbria.
We currently have opportunities across our venues:
- The Farmers Arms, Ulverston
- The Rose & Crown, Ulverston
This role is ideal for a true kitchen professional who takes pride in their section, works well as part of a team, and wants to develop within a well-run, quality-led kitchen. You’ll be hands-on during service, supporting senior chefs, and making sure every dish leaving your section meets our standards.
What you’ll be doing:
- Running your own section confidently during service
- Working closely with the Sous and Head Chef to deliver smooth, consistent services
- Maintaining high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation
- Preparing, cooking, and plating dishes using fresh ingredients
- Supporting and working alongside junior team members
- Keeping your section clean, organised, and fully compliant with food hygiene standards
- Taking pride in being part of a professional, fast-paced kitchen

Cleaner
Job Type: Part-Time
Salary / Rate: Up to £12.50 Per Hour*
Schedule: Early mornings (Flexible start from 6am)
We are looking for a reliable, detail-focused cleaner to carry out early-morning cleaning at our pub venue. This role is ideal for an early riser, someone looking for a second job, or anyone wanting around 12 hours per week.
Hours
- Up to 2 hours per day, 6 days per week
- Can start anytime from 6am
- Cleaning must be completed by 11am
- Additional hours may be available for holiday-let cleaning/housekeeping work
Responsibilities:
- Pub Cleaning –
- Hoovering and mopping floors
- Polishing brass
- Dusting and removing cobwebs
- Wiping down surfaces and high-touch areas
- Emptying bins and maintaining tidy waste areas
- Cleaning toilets and restocking toilet rolls/hand towels
- Cleaning and tidying the beer garden
- Clearing broken glass, ashtrays and debris
- Keeping plant pots and outdoor areas clear and presentable
- Maintaining excellent overall cleanliness and consistency
- Holiday Let Housekeeping (possible extra hours) –
- Changing beds and preparing rooms
- Cleaning bathrooms and kitchens
- Restocking essentials
- Ensuring properties are guest-ready to a high standard
